Our story
Land of our Mothers
The Tortorella family line can be traced way back to a little village called “Villagio Tortorella” in the Campania Region of southern Italy. The family worked the land on the shores of the sun-kissed Mediterranean, growing tomatoes and tobacco. The tobacco is a no goer these days but they still grow the tomatoes and supply some of Italy’s best known companies.
Mum’s side of the family was Welsh. Her Dad ran businesses all his life and maybe that’s where we got our entrepreneurial spirit from?
So here we are, Delano and Ali – the Pizza Boyz – twins born in Swansea with our Dad’s Italian roots and Mum’s Welsh business head, ready to dish up the pizza for you!
Inspiration
Our Mum is our biggest inspiration, she made our childhood happy and we adored her. We sadly lost her in April 2017 to Cancer. Her wish was for us to work as a family business and most of all, like any Mum, to be happy in whatever we do. Naturally, the Pizza Boyz is our tribute to her and our mission is to be happy and make others happy too.
In her memory, we contribute some of our profits every year to Cancer research charities.
Family is big for us. Dad, big brother and little sister are all involved in the business. We are all Pizza Boyz at heart and you can be too!
SO MUM, THIS IS FOR YOU!
The Pizza Box
Most of you know our story, we started up in a horsebox with a built in Pizza oven. Currently the box is out to fallow for the time being whilst we concentrate on the “Gaff” on Walter Road, still known to many locals as “The Old Tenby”. We have a few new projects in the offing so keep your eyes on our social media pages for up to date info.
Thanks to all our customers who made this move such a great success, the whole family is now involved. Our little sister Taya stepped up to become a fully fledged “pizzaiola” and our older Bro Dom also helping out.
